Yesterday I was having one of those nutty conversations with the boys, that ends up giving me quite a chuckle. I know I should write more of these things down, but who has the time when you're a mom of 3 kids?
(context: boys are asking when a neighbor friend is returning from vacation)
ME: he'll be back soon, on Saturday
Z: Thats too long. He's my best friend. I want him to come home now! ( take into consideration that Z doesnt have many friends so this was a big deal for him to say this)
ME: Really? Thats nice that you miss him.
Z: Yeah, He's number 1 on my list.
ME: What list?
Z: You know, my favorites list
TY: I have a favorites list too.
ME: WHo is on your favorite list, TY?
TY: Well, God is number 1..... of course
ME: of course!
Z: Ty, God doesnt count. He is the number 1 on the ALL list. Im talking about the boy list.
TY: Oh, well then that still makes God #1 on my ALL list.
ME: So where is (our neighbor) on your boy list, Ty?
TY: Number 3.
ME: Really, who is number one?
TY: Well Zach of course
(mom smiles)
ME: Did you hear that Z?
Z: Yeah, but Ty isnt number one on my list. Actually, I am number one on my boy list. (Isnt that the truth! Zach always says what we all really think anyway, just more raw) That makes (our neighbor) number 2 and Ty number 3.
ME: What about Daddy?
Z: He is number 4 or maybe number 3 if I dont like Tyler.
ME: What about me? Am I on anyones list?
TY: Oh yeah mom, you are number 2 on my girl list.
ME: ONly number 2 huh? Who is number 1?
TY: Cute little cutie boo of course (that means Cori)
ME: SO what do I have to do to be number one instead of Cori?
TY: Its impossible. She will always be number 1. You would have to become small, and really really cute.
ME: Oh, I see, yes i guess Cori has that guaranteed spot.
TY: But God still has the number one on the ALL list.
Z: Yeah, God does. But sometimes I am number one on that list too.
ME: How do you think that makes God feel?
Z and T: not good.
Z: but that is the way it is sometimes you know
ME: Yes, Zach I know. ( even when we know we shouldnt, dont we all act that way sometimes?)
Oh my goodness, Sarah, this cracked me up because Luke has told us numerous times that he loves Tessa more than us because she's cuter. He is so smitten with her. I'm definitely number 2 (or maybe 3 after Rayna)! And I'm sure Daddy is down the list after his best buddy.
