Mom's Latest Attempt at Sanity

This is my latest tool (AKA:gimmick) to help share the load around our house. Its hard to train your kids to pitch in, and I'm always wondering what I should be requiring of them. Make the bed? YES. Pay the bills? NO. but there is alot of in-between.

One of my dilemmas has been around the dinner hour. I asked some friends at co-op the other day how they handled enlisting "helpers" during the mad dinner rush. Someone suggested a simple chart, and I've modified it slightly, but basically it works!!! So, we've gone from dinner prep looking like this:

to looking a little more balanced, like this:

now Mommy is alot happier, and everyone gets a change to pitch in and help. Aren't I kind to share? The chef cooks the dinner (this clip never moves). The washer clears the table and helps clean up. The setter sets the table and the "getter" is the one to get up during the meal and go get whatever is needed. Forget the butter? no problem. The getter gets it! Its amazing how I'm actually eating my meal lately and finding myslef actually sitting down during dinner. Its been wonderful. Anyone else have any tips to share about dinner prep?
