This week Zach got the flu. Not fun. Being that it was only the 2nd week in October, I'm not sure if a flu shot would have even helped, even if I was a fan of them (which I'm not). We've survived so far, and I'm praying that no one else in the house gets it. So, for all you who find yourselves in a similar boat, here is how I spent my past few days. Flu Survival 101.
-Are you feeling ok?
-No, IM REALLY tired
-OK, want to lay down?
-No, I'm hungry ( I fix dinner while Will goes out)
-(during dinner) BLAAGHGHHHHHHHH. Ut Oh.
-clean up floor, chair, get wastbasket (it will become a constant accessory)
-change clothes, wash hands
-scurry back and forth between Z and screaming baby in bed
-change sheets , again
-clean up bodily liquids
-wash hands
-make toast, watered down gatorade
-prod kids to wash hands, spray entire playroom and upstairs with Lysol
-buy more Lysol, hand sanitizer, and Tylenol
-convince, bribe and cajole son to take Tylenol
-watch TV.....lots of TV, (i.e. Word Girl, Electric company, Disney) over and over
-clean up more bodily liquids
-change sheets, wash hands, clean out wastebasket
-play battleship, Uno, checkers, Connect 4, Senit, Backgammon, Guess Who?, Zoob game, chutes and Ladders, Kids on Stage, War, Monopoly Jr., Gobble It, and my favorite: keep-the-baby-from destroying-the-card-game-game.
-try to come up with an answer to the questions, "What can I do, I'm bored?" for the 50th time
-wash hands, clean sheets, Lysol......again
-try to limit TV and computer so kids brains only turn halfway into mush
-make an emergency trip to the Public Library after your kid has read every book of interest
-cancel all playdates, outings, or social events you have been looking forward to
-pick up an RX of Tamiflu for you, just in case (becasue mommies cant afford to be sick, no time off allowed)
-catch son sneaking Twizzlers out of pantry and ask, " so, are you feeling better?" (A:YES!)
-try to keep brothers from killing each other while wrestling for the first time in a week!
-hope and pray it doesnt spread! and thank God you survived.
