The Washington Post

Im sure you can imagine my suprise when I saw this Sunday's front page:

It was a little alarming, just becasue I wasnt expecting to be in this section. Obviously, we had agreed to the interview, but still.... I thought Metro section or something, if it actually made the paper at all. And, I didnt think our family would be on the cover. But, nonetheless we are praying that God will allow good things to come from it. I have to confess that it was hard to see our situation in black and white, and I wondered if we had done the right thing by being so vulnerable? But after thinking it over again, and remembering the discussion Will and I had had about doing the interview, I remembered that God is in control and that he opened this door for us. We tried very hard in the video to be honoring and not negative of any person or group, and I hope that came across. We know God has us in this situation for a reason and we will be able to someday look back on it and see His hand leading and guiding us.
The article interviews about 8 families on our street, our immediate neighbors. Each with their own healthcare woes. I even learning some things about Patti's situation that I didnt know before, and she is my good friend! And no, we did not initiate the interview (lots of friends have asked me that). We were contacted by The Post.

If you didnt catch the article, here is the link:

there is also a video segment, but you have to log in (its free) to view it. I think Pierre (the videographer) did a good job with the video, especially b/c I was concerned about how our homeschooling would be represented. But I thought he was fair and captured our situation well. We avoided having the "crazy homeschool stigma" i think. Any reference we made to God or prayer was of course edited. But, I guess that is to be expected.

What did you think of the article?
