At the end of each "unit" that we study for school, we try to have a little celebration, just to mark the completion of alot of hard work ! I'd heard of this from many other families who use the Tapestry of Grace curiculum that we also use. It sounded like such a good idea, especially since homeschooling can start to feel like one LOOONG year without any significant milestones along the way.
So to celebrate our conclusion of our history unit on The Middle Ages, we took the boys to Medieval Times. What incredible fun! Not only did the boys LOVE it, but Will and I had fun too. (shhh!)
Tyler wanted to wear his knights costume, which got him some attention from the staff there!

Once we were seated (in the RED section, cheering for the RED knight!), we immediatly started goofing off! They served a tomato soup which our waiter described as "dragon soup". The boys didn't touch it!

Here are some of the knights lining up, prior to their jousting exhibition.

The king, queen , and "emcee" of the evening. Since they all spoke in a pseudo-old english accent, we really couldnt understand alot of the plot. But hey, who cares... there was alot of fighting! And that what really matters to 2 boys!

Our red knight battling the green knight (boooooooo)

Tyler was ENTRANCED! He wouldnt eat, and stood the whole time. The battle scenes were a little intense at times, with sparks flying off the swords and splintering lances. Zach loved it, too. The show had some light effects, and some strobes which caused some stress at times, but overall Zach loved it. We had brought a hoodie for him to help shield his eyes for that purpose and it worked out great.

Here we are meeting our knight afterwards. Zach congratulated him (eventhough he lost). We call that
chivalry!

Then , we got to meet the royalty. The show also included a falcon-training sesion, which was awesome since we had spent a some time learning about falconry. All in all, it was a grand time. Now... onto the Renaissance!
