A Day in the Life- Random Thursday

Well I didn't get to document this day as I would have liked, but I know I'll be able to look back and these pictures will be enough to jog my memory of a typical day at co-op!
So after starting dinner (at 8am) in the crock pot, I'm hoping it will make the day a little easier.

Off to co-op! We drive about 20 minutes to join about 35 families for a day of fun classes. THere are 3 periods, followed by a hang out lunch time. Cori stays in the preschool. Tyler takes a class on series books (like Magic Tree House) then Art Appreciation, then a PE games class. Zach this semester is taking a History re-enactment class about Colonial TImes, then a class about Codes and Cyphers, and then Mythology.

Cori all ready with her bucket and lunch.

This is one of the classes in the youth building.

Zach at the end of his class on "mythological monsters". Each week they read a myth with a hero and villian, and then they are making trading cards to battle at the end of the class. He LOVES this class.

Some students in the drawing class I teach. This week we were drawing still life of vegetables.

After classes are over, the kids gather outside for some games of football, capture the flag, or just playground play. There are about 70 children in the co-op, including babies.

Once we get home (about 2pm) Tyler decies to finally have his lunch. He is always too busy playing afterwards to want to sit an eat. Here he is holding his "flat traveller"- Sonic- that was returned to him this week. He had been on many adventures with a friend in class. THey had swapped characters and journals to show where they had travelled. It was really cute!

My mess I've unloaded from the car.... I put Cori down for a rest before I can tackle it.

Meanwhile.... Tyler does some workboxes. Only about 3 since its a co-op day.

We are wrapping up our study on the early colonies so Zach was working on finishing some maps and mini books

We had a funny discussion about all the differnet people who helped make up the initial colonies and found our nation. The boys compared it to a yummy ice cream sundae with lots of parts. We drew it up together.

After school, the boys were playing outside. This is a fun time of day when other neighbor friends get home from school too. So, somehow the dynamic ended up that all the boys came to our house to see "Lego Universe" which is the latest obsession in this house. It was fun to listen to them discuss strategy.

After that it was time for dinner, (thankful i got that crock pot going earlier!) and then Will got home just in time for me to still make it to Ladies Meeting at 8! Thanks, honey.

  1. We enjoy our co-op days! I bet the myths and monsters class is a favorite for the boys! I know mine would love that too. My boys attend a Dangerous Boys class, and they do activities from The Dangerous Book for Boys. It is educational, hands on and VERY fun. They love it. Our co-op breaks for the holidays after this week, and my boys are begging me to buy the Dangerous Book so they can use it during the break! :)

I see that you have my old blog linked in your blogroll! (5 Kids and a Dog) It now refers over to my new site, but it won't forever. You may want to update the link. :)
