The other night I was able to hang out with 2 very dear friends of mine, both of whom share the homeschooling journey with me.
One thing we discussed was how hard it is to find time to read, for enjoyment. It seems there is always something more "productive" to do than read, like laundry which seems (no, is) never ending. And, when we do make time to read its easy to take up all that time by researching or reading about homeschool strategies, tips, philosophies, etc....
But I realized recently how much I MISS reading, for fun, for no enjoyment or benefit but my own. I love fiction, and try to make the time and when I do- I'm happier and more content for it.
One friend shared this challenging article, called "Stop Cleaning the Kitchen and Read a Book" by Susan Wise Bauer- a pioneer in Classical Christian Education. I hope you take the time to stop cleaning and read it. I loved it!
